The Desert Palm Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was organized on December 2, 1995, with Lillian Decker as the organizing regent. The chapter's name was chosen to honor the fan leaf palm that was a beacon to the early settlers and those attempting to reach the west coast for its signal of lifesaving water in the barren desert landscape. Most members are from the Imperial County area with many snowbirds visiting our chapter in the winter months. Local residency is not a requirement for membership in any chapter.

Though we have recently lost our organizing regent, her legacy lives on. Desert Palm Chapter, NSDAR, passion is ever-growing and includes serving the community and perpetuating the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American independence. Love of country is our common theme and, as Daughters, we still share those ideals which formed this great country.
